Bumper avocado harvests across Australia have caused a national oversupply, putting significant pressure on tray prices. At the same time, global events have distorted consumer markets and tangled supply chains, with cost headwinds being felt on farms. Over the next five years, Australia will need to navigate a period of ongoing production growth that comes off the back of significant acreage maturing. Against this backdrop, New Zealand, whose exports focus heavily on Australia, is also seeing supply growth, albeit more modest than in Australia.
